Varese Vintage Records will be reissuing on October 9th the Credibility Gap album “The Bronze Age Of Radio: Selections From Their legendary Los Angeles Radio Comedy Series.”

The Credibility Gap featured Harry Shearer David L. Lander Michael McKean and Richard Beebe.

• This collection of their classic satirical on-air radio newscasts has been unavailable for over 25 years, and is now on CD for first time.

• In 1975, McKean, Lander and Shearer were hired as writers for the ABC sitcom, Laverne & Shirley. Penny Marshall, who starred as Laverne, suggested that Michael and David play recurring roles based on two characters they’d created with The Credibility Gap. That is how Lenny and Squiggy became regulars on the show.

• Features new notes written by Harry Shearer.

• Includes a special appearance by Albert Brooks.

I went to that site and did a search for “credibility gap” but there’s nothing on it yet. Anyone know where I can find a recording, or even a transcription of their bit mimicking the Abbott & Costello’s “Who’s on First” bit using the rock groups The Who, The Guess Who and Yes?

Thanks for any info.

Never mind—I found it right here on this site: http://www.harryshearer.com/projects/radio/#the_credibility_gap
damned fancy schmancy menus!

If you’re familiar with the original Abbott & Costello routine, you must hear this-it’s a gem. I’ve wondered about this bit for years after hearing it one morning on NPR decades ago-somehow thought it had been done by Albert Brooks, ‘cause back in those days I didn’t know who Harry was. Not till I went out to L.A. some years later and began catching Le Show on Sunday mornings did I become a fan. ANYWAY, give it a listen.

Do you think if we had a site index that would be helpful? so you could easily find those less popular items in the site?

Yes. A site map is always a Good Thing.

I wouldn’t say always… but most often it is. :)

There have been references to the ‘Bronze Album” and I saw another about ‘A Great Gift Idea”, and it was, but does anyone know about “Woodschtick and more”? I am looking at my 12’ vinyl that has followed me around since it was born. In my opinion, It has more of their best stuff in one place than any other. One redeeming virtue of Bronze Age is, you can’t have too much Nubasonic Oil, if you’re going to sell out, that is, heh , heh.
