The link from the main menu to the message board seems to be broken. I click and nothing happens. Running Linux with Firefox 2.0.1. I think the Flash player is version 9 but I’m not absolutely certain.

It supposed to open a new window. Perhaps you have this disabled?

Thats actually how I just got here, so… has anyone else had this problem? Seems to be working fine.

I have a popup blocker too… but I can still open pop-up windows from links that I click. I’d assume thats the case but I don’t have much experience with pop-up blockers… do you?

I’m just running the standard blocker in firefox. It seems to be 99.99999 percent effective.

I just had to set a rule in the exceptions list to allow pops from this site and all is now well.

A lot of people run pop up blockers; perhaps you need to rethink this feature or at least give users a warning that things won’t work as expected.

By the way, the Flash-based menus don’t seem to appear on all pages. I’m not sure if this is a firefoxism or something broken in the web site.

I just checked on a Mac running Safari and I get the same behavior. Click on What’s New from the main page, for example.

Another point:

From a usability standpoint, the Flash animation on the main page gets in the way of navigation, since there’s an appreciable delay while the graphic assembles itself to the left of Harry Shearer’s picture. It’s cute the first time you see it but after that, it wears thin rather rapidly. Of course, I have a rather low tolerance for “cute”, so take it for what you will.

Thanks for your input, we plan to update the message board with a link back to the site at some point soon, so that should take care of the need to put it into a new window.

We are also constructing the flash pages for the other sections, thats mainly due to some health problems with one of our core developers on this end… he took a month medical leave to get healthy… So we’re re-grouping and finally back to putting some new pages up. Wheh!

I know what you’re saying about the cuteness… we’ll look and see if we can’t get the content to display a bit quicker. Thanks for the input.
